Standard CIAU rules apply:
- You are allowed one step over the service line when serving.
- Players may not block a serve.
- Rotate in extra players.
- Stay off the net (if a player touches the net while the ball is still in play, the point AND serve goes to the opposing team).
- If the ball lands on the line, it is considered in.
- Double hits are allowed off the serve.
- Let serves are good (i.e. if the ball hits the net on the serve and lands in the opposition’s court, it is considered a point for the serving team).
- Maximum of 3 touches per side.
- A block is not counted as a hit.
- Players may NOT use their feet.
- No lifting or scooping the ball.
- No jump-spiking permitted from anywhere.
- Only standing spiking is allowed.
- Call your own infractions. Players may also question other player's infractions – both teams must come to a mutual decision about the call.
- If the teams cannot come to a mutual agreement the point must be replayed.
- *Please note that this is a league geared towards enjoyment of the sport for everyone.

- Games are 6 v 6 players with a minimum of 2 female players on the court at all times. Teams without at least one female player must default their game(s); teams with one female player must play with only 4 players (3 males and 1 female).
- Maximum of 5 consecutive serves per player.
- Teams may NOT use substitute players for any match night.
- Players must play at least 50% of the regular season games and must be a registered member of the team to be eligible to play in the playoffs.
- In the event of an extenuating circumstance, a substitute may be allowed to play during the season and playoffs; however, this must be approved by the coordinator PRIOR to the match night.
- Each match consists of 2 games or allotted time (55 minutes), which ever comes first.
- Games go to 25 points using the rally point system. Teams must win by 2 points, capped at 28 points.
- Games are to begin on time! If games begin late, no make up time will be given.
- Maximum of 10 players allowed per team.
- Please report your team’s scores to the coordinator before leaving.
- Aim High Athletics reserves the right to change or implement new rules at any point throughout the season.

League Administration Rules
- Individuals must be paid in full at time of registration.
- Teams must leave a $200 non refundable deposit at time of registration - balance is due before the first match.
- Rosters and waivers must be completed prior to the first match of each season and handed in to league administration.
- Only players on the roster will be permitted to play.
- The Athletics Adult Volleyball League - AAVL - is self-officiated; we ask that everyone be fair and honest when making a judgment call – in the event of a disagreement and the two sides cannot come to an agreement, the point will be re-played.
